Brampton Close The Gap

The Brampton Lions win over the North York Astros on Sunday August 17th gives the Lions 20 points and pushes us 3 point ahead of the Windsor Border Stars with a game in hand. The Brampton Lions are on excellent form and on target for a playoff spot. The Brampton Lions FC saw host to the North York Astros for the second time this month. With the first game being played on the 8th of August and resulting in a 3-2 win for the Astros, the Lions had to gather 3 points from this meet to enter the playoffs with a high seed.
The game was tactically perfect from the lions who opened the scoring in the 44th minute through the CSL’s top goal scorer, Daniel Nascimento. The shot came from about 40 yards out and just dipped to shock the Astros keeper and buried into the back of the net. The Lions felt comfortable coming out of the break with a 1-0 lead over the visitors when in the 48th minute, Nico Poku struck Selvin Lammie in the face and was promptly shown a red card. This left the Lions down to 10 men. This, however, did not stop the Lions at all as they seemed to have more chances in the second half than the first.
The Brampton Lions play Trois-Rivières Attak on Friday in Quebec for a chance to be within 3 points of the Astros. The Attak have a superb home record and will be looking to expand on their dominating lead but with so much on the line for the Lions it will prove to be a great game.
